About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Shopify Developer to join our client's expanding digital team based in Plymouth. This role is primarily focused on front-end development within a high-traffic e-commerce environment, emphasizing Shopify Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for developing bespoke features, building engaging landing pages, and implementing integrations with third-party systems to enhance the overall user experience. The position offers an excellent opportunity to influence the technical direction of the platform, work on innovative projects, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of a large-scale online retail platform. This is a development-centric role that requires ownership, creativity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in modern web development with specific experience in e-commerce platforms, particularly Shopify. Essential qualifications include:
- Proven commercial experience working with Shopify and Shopify Liquid templates
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience developing reusable front-end components and features
- Knowledge of templating systems within e-commerce environments
- Exposure to React and TypeScript is advantageous
- Understanding of APIs and system integrations for seamless data exchange
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Experience with build tools, package management, and modern workflows
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines
- Previous experience working in fast-paced digital or retail settings
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of tasks, including:
- Developing custom front-end functionalities and reusable components to enhance the platform’s capabilities
- Creating engaging landing pages, customer journeys, and interactive site features to improve user engagement
- Integrating third-party systems and external services to streamline operations and improve platform performance
- Optimizing platform performance, usability, and maintainability to ensure a seamless customer experience
- Supporting platform releases, marketing campaigns, and ongoing feature enhancements
- Collaborating closely with internal design, marketing, and commercial teams to align technical solutions with business goals
- Contributing to the development of coding standards, tooling, and workflows to improve team efficiency
- Assisting in shaping the future technical direction of the engineering team through innovative solutions and best practices
