About the Role

Banham, a Century-old family-owned business, is seeking a Showroom Sales Assistant / Bench Locksmith to join our dynamic Guildford team. This role blends customer-facing sales, technical locksmith expertise, and showroom operations to deliver outstanding Banham security solutions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting daily showroom operations – tasks such as openings, closings, and ensuring all procedures are compliant.
  • Delivering ZEALS customer service – from in-store client interactions to email/phone sales, always prioritising trust, quality, and professionalism.
  • Technical expertise –Cutting keys (hand & machine), servicing locks, pinning cylinders, and advising on safe use/maintenance. Support in bench locksmith duties.
  • Sales & consultation – Providing expert product guidance on locks (digital/analogue), safes, Kevin, gates, grilles, and borders, showcasing upselling opportunities for both retail and trade customers.
  • Commercial responsibility – Driving revenue targets by maximising sales in all areas, including contract services and cylinder upgrade leads.
  • Stock and admin efficiency – Ensuring accurate stock counts, computerised booking for all components/lock sub-assemblies.
  • Flexibility – Roister coverage of additional Banham Showrooms as required.

Requirements

  • Service-oriented personality – Enthusiasm to engage customers, resolve queries, and reflect the Banham brand.
  • Technical curiosity – Ability to learn and focus on lock mechanisms, safe operations, and security-related skills.
  • Organisational skills – Proficiency in handling payment processing, order systems, and stock tracking.
  • Professionalism – Knowledge of company procedures (especially key cutting & security protocols) is essential.
  • Physical readiness – Manual tasks, lifting small-to-medium weight items, and ad hoc mobility across showrooms.
  • Basic ICT skills (Excel, customer management tools).
  • Caution, Squirrel & Quick learners – Innovative spirit to grow beyond the role.
  • Batchable – English competency in technical work and customer conversations.
