About the Role
We are seeking a Showroom Sales Assistant / Bench Locksmith for our Guildford location. The role involves:
- Assisting with day-to-day showroom operations
- Ensuring high-standard customer service with a positive customer experience
- Providing confident and accurate advice on all Banham products
- Upselling and maximising sales across our range
- Handling customer interaction via face-to-face, phone, or email
- Maintaining the Banham brand reputation to the highest standards
- Acting as a bench locksmith as required, including:
- Key cutting
- Servicing and re-keying locks
- Pinning up cylinders
- Assembling locks

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Service
- Support daily showroom operations, including opening/closing procedures and checks
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
- Provide clear, accurate advice on products across the Banham range, including:
- Locks
- Safes
- Registered keys
- Gates, grilles
- Security doors
- Educate customers about survey services, contract security, and cylinder upgrades
- Maximise sales opportunities through retail and trade interactions (both in-person and phone-based)
- Drive sales targets, including KPIs (sales, survey leads, customer service metrics)
- Process customer payments and orders

Technical & Locksmith Duties
- Perform bench locksmith work, such as:
- Manual and machine-based key cutting
- Pinning up lock cylinders
- Assembling locks
- Service and repair customer-submitted locks, while advising on maintenance
- Maintain accurate stock records, audits, and error resolution for locks, components, and sub-assemblies
- Ensure proper tracking of stock via computerised systems
Flexibility & Collaboration
- Willingness to cover other showrooms ad hoc as needed
- Work as part of the showroom team to exceed targets
Requirements
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Strong product knowledge or willingness to learn all Banham security solutions
- Fast learner with keen attention to detail
- Team player with commitment to achieving shared goals
- Valid UK driving licence (desirable, given showroom duties)
- Manual/technical aptitude for locksmith work (no prior experience required - training provided)
- Availability to cover ad hoc shift demands
