Job Title: Shunter (Hights)

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Full time: Permanent

Position Summary

To ensure the safe coupling and un-coupling of vehicles in accordance with legislation and Martin Brower UK procedures, and to complete all vehicle checks accurately and on time.

Duties And Responsibilities

Operational

  • To drive LGV in a safe manner, complying with all legislation governing this activity
  • Complete all daily shunt vehicle checks
  • To couple and uncouple trailers as required
  • To ensure all paperwork (Temperature Sheet, defect sheet, shunt vehicle sheet) is completed accurately and returned to the traffic office
  • To check fridge temperatures on chilled loads
  • Tail lift operation
  • To reflect a positive image at all times when representing the company
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes at short notice to meet the demands placed on MBUK by our customer.
  • To ensure regular cleaning of all vehicles as required operating vehicle wash and power washer

Communications

  • Inform all relevant parties of breakdown, delay or unexpected differences in loads
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement and development

Health and Safety

  • Strong H&S awareness abiding to MBUK policy and practice at all times

Qualifications

Technical Competencies:

  • C+E Licence for a minimum of two years (Essential)
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths (Essential)
  • Understanding of EC drivers’ hours & EC working time directive regulations (Essential)
  • Experience of working with refrigerated vehicles (Desirable)
