Simulation & Modelling Engineer
Salary: Up to £47,500 depending on experience
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Simulation & Modelling Engineer to join our team, where we specialise in developing and maintaining advanced performance models to evaluate and validate sophisticated missile and weapon systems.
Location & Working Arrangement
- Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4 to 5 days per week on-site (based on workload classification)
- Security Clearance Required: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British Citizenship. After the offer stage, all candidates may undergo HM Government Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.
The Opportunity
Our team is responsible for the management, development, and maintenance of simulation and modelling tools across several key domains:
- Development and maintenance of performance models and studies
- Mathematical modelling of high-performance, dynamic systems (e.g., sub-system components and system environment)
- Verification and validation of models
Key Tasks Include:
- Development and implementation of performance models for key programmes within MBDA, supporting design, trials, reviews, and documentation.
- Assessing trade-off studies, feasibility and concept proving studies, and post-trial analyses for deep dive evaluations.
- Ensuring integration and verification of model components from external suppliers.
- Conducting technical analyses and investigations for complex problems and developing solutions.
- Collaborating with model users to understand and translate their requirements, ensuring solutions meet intended use cases.

What We’re Looking For
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of simulation environments, such as MATLAB/Simulink or similar.
- Proficiency in programming languages like FORTRAN, C, or C++.
- Knowledge of change and configuration control processes (e.g., Rational Team Concert) would be advantageous.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex, sophisticated technical issues through analytical problem-solving.
- Ability to visualise and decompose complex system dynamics for accurate modelling.
- Practical knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes.
