Role Summary
DBD International is seeking an experienced and motivated Simulation and Modelling Engineer to join our Mission Optimisation capability. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting complex engineering programmes within the nuclear sector, working on high-profile projects across Defence, Decommissioning and New Build environments.
You will be using modelling, simulation and analytical techniques, working closely with clients to help them understand, improve and optimise complex systems. Throughout you will be applying engineering, mathematical or physics-based approaches.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and apply simulation and modelling approaches to analyse complex engineering systems.
- Use simulation techniques to test different scenarios.
- Use modelling, simulation and analytical tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, Aspen Plus/HYSYS, Anylogic, Simul8, or similar platforms.
- Support engineering decisions through data and analysis to provide technical insight and recommendation.
- Work with engineers, clients, Stakeholders and technical teams.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations and documentation communicating modelling methodologies, assumptions, and outcomes.
- Support innovation and digital engineering projects within highly regulated environments.

Formal Qualifications or Training
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computational Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in simulation, modelling, systems analysis or computational engineering within an industrial, scientific or consultancy environment.
- Programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Java, C++, or similar) is beneficial.
- Experience working in regulated or technically complex industries such as nuclear, energy, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, aerospace, manufacturing, or defence is desirable.
