Experienced Consultant – Simulation and Modelling Engineer
Location: Awerian offices near Cambridge, UK About the Company
Breakthrough technology is vital for strengthening the UK’s Defence & Homeland Security. As an Experienced Consultant at Awerian, a defence and security technology consultancy, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation—helping defend and protect the UK from evolving technological and cyber threats.
About the Role
You’ll contribute to groundbreaking work with a real-world impact. By collaborating with elite multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and designers, you’ll explore pioneering concepts, from idea conception to rapid prototyping. This role offers challenging, varied, and agile work, where creativity meets practical engineering solutions.
As a Simulation and Modelling Engineer, your focus will be on modelling and analysing complex systems and their interactions using MATLAB/Simulink-based tools. You’ll develop mathematical models of intricate systems, applying your problem-solving and engineering expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Model and analyse complex interconnected systems using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Develop and refine physics-based models of dynamic systems.
- Apply systems engineering principles to define architecture and processes.
- Collaborate on test bench development and-validation.
- Conduct code reviews for model accuracy and robustness.

Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in model-based systems engineering.
- Proficiency in model development for system interactions.
- Knowledge of electronic systems (DSP, signal processing, radar – desirable).
- University-level education in Electronics, Physics, or Mathematics, with industry experience.
- Strong technical background in engineering fundamentals and problem-solving.
Defence experience is valued, though not mandatory. We welcome diverse industrial backgrounds.
Desirable:
- Expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) integration.
- Experience with High-Level Synthesis (Simulink HDL Coder/Embedded Coder).
