Sister – Charge Nurse – Wards/Outpatients
Location: St Edmunds Hospital, Bury St Edmunds Hours: Permanent | 37.5 hours per week Salary: Up to £42,000.00 per annum (based on experience, training, and qualifications)
St Edmunds Hospital, part of Circle Health Group – Britain’s leading independent healthcare provider – is seeking an exceptional Sister Charge Nurse to join their teams in the Wards and Outpatients department.
About the Role
We’re looking for a confident, experienced, and passionate nurse to oversee clinical operations, patient and team management, and delivery of high standard care in a fast-paced environment. Full-time positions require a flexible shift pattern, including occasional night shifts, for these roles.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on clinical support as a senior point for complex or deteriorating patients, ensuring swift interventions.
- Coordinate daily clinical activity, ensuring safe staffing levels, appropriate skill mix, and continuity of care at all times.
- Allocate and supervise staff across shifts—detailing responsibilities and monitoring workflows to satisfy patient needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, fully compliant with NMC registrant and organisational standards.
- Key liaison among patients, their families, consultants, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Support admissions, discharges, and seamless patient flow, resolving any delays or escalated situations.

Requirements
- Registered as an Adult Nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Substantial post-registration experience in acute or relevant specialities.
- Proven leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise teams within a clinical setting.
- Strong ability in clinical decision-making, communication, and coordination, with dedication to professional development.
