We are currently seeking a part-time Band 6 Charge Nurse/Sister to join our team on Dart ward.

We welcome applicants who are passionate and driven, ready to take on a new challenge in their nursing career. Depending on your level of experience, training and support will be provided to help you succeed in this role. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable management experience and further develop your clinical and professional skills with the guidance of our experienced Band 6 team and Ward manager.

Role Overview

As the Band 6 Charge Nurse/Sister, you will be responsible for overseeing shifts and providing support to the nursing staff. Join us on Dart ward and make a difference in the lives of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team both on the ward as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, but also with other multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure a seamless delivery of service.
  • Coordinate the ward to maintain flow and the patients' journey.
  • Assess the care needs of the patients and their families. Support the team to develop, implement, and evaluate care to a high standard, whilst demonstrating a compassionate nature and maintaining patients' dignity.
  • Participate as a skilled member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Act as a clinical advisor on nursing issues to ensure a high-standard of care is maintained utilizing evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in direct care and facilitate sound discharge planning.

This post will provide you great job satisfaction, not only will you be working in an innovative, dedicated, friendly team on our 16-bedded ward within Totnes Community Hospital. You will have a voice and we always actively welcome new ideas, valuing staff and opinions.

Achieving and being part of facilitating a patient's wishes to happen is a very rewarding part of the role. This not only applies to patients who are being rehabilitated back to their homes but also for those who are on an end-of-life pathway or are still actively being treated within a sub-acute environment.
