About the Role
The Planned Care Unit (PCU) is a nurse-led day case service that delivers planned infusion therapies, transfusion care, and diagnostic investigations for stable adult patients. Services include:
- IV iron treatments
- Biologic therapy administration
- Blood transfusions
- Specialist diagnostic tests
Care is provided within a supportive, patient-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, set up IV access, deliver infusions, and monitor patients throughout treatments
- Follow Trust policies and PCU standard operating procedures
- Collaborate closely with pharmacy and referring clinical teams to ensure safe, timely patient care
- Escalate concerns promptly when necessary
- Develop specialist infusion skills and enhance clinical assessment expertise
The successful candidate will:
- Work within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high-standard, evidence-based clinical nursing care
- Provide comprehensive care from admission to safe discharge, including resuscitation and stabilisation when required
- Use clinical judgement to assess patients, interpret observations, and promptly escalate concerns
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, relatives, and the MDT
- Support quality patient experiences and ensure timely information exchange

Person Specification & Requirements
- Experienced nurse with strong skills in IV therapy and clinical assessment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
- Ability to work within a structured, team-focused environment
