Job Overview
- 2 Full Time Band 6 Posts
The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
Main duties of the job
All applicants must be a Registered Nurse, with recent experience at Band 5 and meet the Band 6 Job Description person specification. Experience in both pathways is essential for this Senior Nursing post holder.
The position involves working as an Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on Mason Ward (Internal rotation) Surgical Ward, with a Trauma and Orthopaedics speciality.
Applicants will also be required to undertake Mentorship of Student Nurses and preceptorship of newly qualified nurses whilst assisting the ward sister in managing Mason Ward, and ensuring that the Fundamentals of Care are maintained to a high standard.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Reg Nurse
- Evidence of a Degree level qualification or working towards this within an agreed time frame.
- Evidence of CPD Holds or is actively working towards a relevant Post-graduate Diploma, Diploma to be completed within an agreed timeframe.
Desirable criteria
- Management Qualification or experience
- Mentor/supervisor/assessor/
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working either within the clinical speciality or a relevant nursing role.
- Ability to demonstrate application of improvement methodology.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Experience/knowledge of senior nurse role
Aptitude And Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate and receive complex information
- The ability to diagnose a problem and take corrective action
- Ability to analyse assessment results and transfer them into relevant packages of care
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Ability to speak Welsh
