The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area
- Participate in the education, development, and supervision of other staff members
Main Duties of the Job
All applicants must be a Registered Nurse, with recent experience at Band 5, and meet the Band 6 Job Description person specification. Experience in both pathways is essential for this Senior Nursing post holder.
The position involves working as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse on Mason Ward (Internal rotation) Surgical Ward, with a Trauma and Orthopaedics specialty.
- Applicants will also be required to undertake Mentorship of Student Nurses and preceptorship of newly qualified nurses
- Assist the ward sister in managing Mason Ward
- Ensure that the Fundamentals of Care are maintained to a high standard
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Evidence of a Degree level qualification or working towards this within an agreed timeframe
- Evidence of CPD Holds or is actively working towards a relevant Post-graduate Diploma, Diploma to be completed within an agreed timeframe
Desirable criteria
- Management Qualification or experience
- Mentor/supervisor/assessor/
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working either within the clinical specialty or a relevant nursing role
- Ability to demonstrate application of improvement methodology
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Experience/knowledge of a senior nurse role
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate and receive complex information
- The ability to diagnose a problem and take corrective action
- Ability to analyse assessment results and transfer them into relevant packages of care
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
