Site Agent – Rail Infrastructure (Southern Renewals)

Location: Wessex Route Sector: Rail/Building Services

VolkerFitzpatrick delivers critical civil engineering, infrastructure, and building projects across rail, highways, airports, and commercial developments. From strategic rail schemes to essential private/public sector works, we build, renew, and maintain vital national infrastructure—including station buildings, platforms, canopies, and footbridges—while integrating all M&E works.

We’re seeking a talented Site Agent to join the Buildings portfolio, supporting our Southern Renewals programme, where you’ll work across a diverse mix of schemes including:

  • Station building renewals and expansions
  • Platform construction (upgrades & extensions)
  • Canopy & footbridge installation
  • Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing (M&E) coordination

About the Role

As Site Agent for VolkerFitzpatrick, you’ll oversee operational delivery, ensuring health & safety standards are met alongside project efficiency. With a focus on Network Rail infrastructure, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining operational continuity, quality, and regulatory compliance across high-profile renewals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day site management: Supporting the disablery and implementation of successful deliveries across discrete projects.
  • Technical accountability: Ensuring adherence to CDM regulations, risk assessments, and legal compliance.
  • Safety leadership: Promoting a culture of safety through robust **SWMS", task briefings, and hazard management.
  • Logistics & scheduling: Producing and maintaining Work Package Plans, construction programme revisions, and evidence-based reporting.
  • Stakeholder liaison: Coordination with Network Rail, contractors, and site staff to ensure seamless progress.
  • Quality control: Overseeing build standards, subcontract management, and resolution of issues to maintain schedule/profitability.
  • Commercial integration: Managing timesheet/attendance alongside internal commercial teams where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
