Capita is recruiting a Site Agent to lead the on‑site delivery of highways and civil engineering projects across North Tyneside.
This is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient and commercially sound delivery of works on site.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Site Agent will take full responsibility for managing site activity, overseeing operatives and supervisory teams, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme, quality, health & safety and budgetary requirements.
This is a fixed term position.

Job Description
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking overall control of day‑to‑day site operations on highways and infrastructure projects
- Managing and coordinating site teams, including Site Managers, Site Engineers, General Foremen, operatives and subcontractors
- Ensuring all works are delivered safely and in compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM
- Planning, organising and sequencing works to achieve programme and productivity targets
- Managing resources including labour, plant, materials and subcontractors
- Monitoring progress and managing risk, issues and change on site
- Managing materials supply to control cost and support efficient delivery
- Maintaining accurate site records and ensuring project documentation and management systems are up to date
- Building effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal support teams
- Supporting commercial delivery, including cost control, forecasting and financial recovery of works
What We’re Looking For
Essential experience and skills
- Proven experience in a Site Agent or senior site management role within construction or highways
- CSCS certification
- SMSTS or equivalent construction management qualification
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, including CDM
- Experience estimating and controlling labour, plant and material costs
- Experience monitoring and managing contract programmes
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and Excel
- Strong leadership and communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels
- A full UK driving licence

Desirable experience
- Extensive knowledge of highways construction processes
- Experience using Microsoft Project
- Understanding of project productivity expectations
- Experience working within organisations delivering projects using both in‑house and subcontracted teams
- First Aid at Work qualification
