About The Role
Job Title: Site Agent

Join one of Scotland's most significant power infrastructure upgrades and play a key role in modernising the electricity network that serves Aberdeen and the surrounding region.
The Willowdale Grid Supply Point (GSP) Project, being delivered for SSEN Transmission, will replace and upgrade critical infrastructure at the existing Willowdale substation, which has been in operation since the 1960s and is approaching the end of its design life. The project will introduce modern indoor substation technology, enhance network reliability, support future electricity demand, and strengthen the transmission infrastructure required for Scotland's transition to a low-carbon energy future.
Located in the heart of Aberdeen, the project involves the replacement of ageing transformers, circuit breakers, and associated plant, together with the installation of state-of-the-art Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and associated civil, electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
What you'll be doing
Core
- Live the Balfour Beatty Values
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
- Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
- Motivate section team and manage performance; monitor the competency of team members and undertake training/ coaching as appropriate
Health Safety & Environmental
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance
- Carries out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan
- Assists Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering / review.
- Appraises improvement options and actions / instigates as appropriate
- Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register
- Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System
- Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team
Engineering Control
- Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability
- Identifies and arranges training as required
Quality
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project objectives and monitors performance
- Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings
- Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate
- Implements systems and processes to manage the quality of the constructive works
- Involved in working groups focused on Improvement Areas
- Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section
Productivity
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with key outputs and monitors performance, reporting Section Progress
- Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme
- Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI’s
- Ensures production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme
- Chairs prescribed Short Interval Control section meetings to review performance on site
Commercial
- Sets targets and KPI’s in line with budget forecast
- Attends and provides reports for weekly project meetings and identifies improvement areas and allocates / implements appropriate actions to team members
- Involved in the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects / preferred attendances

Who we're looking for
The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential
Core
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems and capable of stopping operations when necessary.
- Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity; experienced at encouraging direct reports to do the same and managing a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and key messages cascaded
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights as required by the programme
- Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card.
- SMSTS qualified.
- Excellent team player and leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision
- Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information; track record of solution orientated approach to resolve issues
- Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills
- Good report writing skills
- Proficient IT skills
- Excellent role model for team and demonstrates required behaviours to align to business, project and team objectives
Health Safety & Environmental
- Understands method statements and can coach others in document production
- Understands and can guide others in the principles of Accident / Incident Investigation
- Good working knowledge of current H & S legislation
- Proficient in the application of Company Systems
- Innovative approach to enhancing safe systems of work
Engineering Control
- Experienced in resource allocation and up skilling
- Competent in reading technical drawings and information, and understands the principle of design management.
Quality
- Understands the Organisational Business Management Systems and processes
- Clear understanding and experience of the requirements for handover and self-certification of the works, including management experience of the same
Productivity
- Able to analyse and offer improvement on a fully resourced stage programme in the accepted format / software
- Understands sub-contractor KPI’s and has experience of using them to manage performance
- Able to dynamically shift programme and adapt to circumstances on site whilst maintaining focus on targets
Commercial
- Used to setting targets in line with budget
- Able to produce a realistic financial forecast and track progress against programme.
- Identifies elements for cost recovery from others and guides team members in maintaining project records
- Working knowledge of the NEC and other relevant forms of contract
The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of managing a multi-disciplined team
- Interest in pursuing a formal qualification (e.g. ICE)
- Wide ranging independent judgement evident
- Has achieved professional accreditation (e.g. ICE, IHT)
