Mott MacDonald Bentley
Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business, combining the engineering excellence of Mott MacDonald with the construction expertise of JN Bentley. Operating across the water, energy and environmental sectors throughout the UK, we deliver innovative infrastructure solutions from concept through to commissioning.
With annual turnover exceeding £600 million and a reputation for collaborative project delivery, MMB continues to be one of the industry's leading design and build organisations.
As a delivery partner on United Utilities' AMP8 framework, we will play a key role in delivering over £3 billion of major infrastructure investment across the North West over the next five years, with the potential for a further five-year extension. This programme includes significant investment in wastewater treatment works, storm overflow reduction schemes and environmental improvements that will protect over 500km of rivers and bathing waters.
The Role
As a Site Agent, you will take ownership of the delivery of detailed design and build projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. Working closely with in-house design, commercial and operational teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, budget and quality expectations.
This role offers the opportunity to influence design development, buildability, construction methodology and delivery strategy whilst leading site teams on a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and water infrastructure projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
