The Opportunity

Pareto FM is recruiting a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our on-site engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining, repairing, and optimising electrical systems within a dynamic commercial environment.

We seek an electrically qualified engineer who thrives on problem-solving, prioritises excellence, and fosters collaboration to deliver outstanding service to our clients. The role involves ensuring building systems remain secure, compliant, and operational, while contributing to a supportive engineering team.


The Role

As the Site-Based Electrical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing electrical infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
  • Diagnosing faults and resolving electrical issues efficiently to minimise downtime.
  • Maintaining power distribution, lighting, critical power, and associated plant.
  • Performing routine inspections and compliance checks in line with statutory requirements.
  • Ensuring all electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.
  • Documenting maintenance activities, inspections, and testing in adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Updating work orders and CAFM systems as needed.
  • Supporting electrical upgrades, installations, and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborating with contractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Providing technical guidance and supporting compliance with health and safety regulations.

This position requires you to work closely with the Engineering Supervisor and Fabric Technician, ensuring high-quality facilities management services while meeting all regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
  • Inspect, test, repair, and upgrade electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults to minimise electrical downtime.
  • Maintain power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and buildings services.
  • Conduct statutory compliance inspections.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and improvement projects.
  • Work alongside external specialists when required.
  • Provide technical assistance and ensure adherence to safety rules.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • UK-recognised electrical qualifications, such as:
    • City & Guilds 2365 Diploma in Electrical Installations (equivalent recognised certificates)
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and fault-finding in a facilities management environment or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of UK electrical regulations, standards, and safe working practices.
  • Proficiency in fault-finding and electrical problem-solving.
  • Independence to manage workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in commercial building environments.
  • Familiarity with building services systems and facilities management processes.
  • Knowledge in using CAFM systems and digital maintenance platforms.

Team & Support

  • You’ll report directly to the Engineering Supervisor and collaborate closely with the Fabric Technician as part of a collaborative engineering team.
  • You’ll receive regular support through operational guidance and access to senior engineers, technical, and contract management teams.
