Site based HSEQ Advisor - Sullom Voe Terminal

Key Objectives

This is an onshore site-based role working at a key customer's site, working Mon-Fri. Candidates will preferably have had previous experience working in the Oil & Gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

HSEQ Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, sharing responsibility for HSEQ development, learning, governance, and improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the client, proactively sharing relevant information.
  • Act as a visible and professional HSEQ representative, promoting a positive safety culture at all times.

Performance Monitoring & Improvement

  • Proactively analyse leading and lagging indicators to identify trends, deviations, and root causes, and prepare clear recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead and support actions required for the successful implementation of location and regional improvement plans.
  • Actively promote the organisation’s behavioural safety programme and support its implementation and ongoing delivery.

Training, Communication & Engagement

  • Support operational teams in developing and delivering training and communication materials, including site inductions.
  • Attend relevant HSEQ meetings, providing constructive, solutions-focused input.
  • Coach and communicate effectively, bringing enthusiasm and a positive approach to influencing safe behaviours.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure HSEQ policies, management systems, standards, and processes are accessible, understood, and effectively implemented at the location.
  • Ensure compliance with the Altrad Integrated Management System (AIMS), customer requirements, and legislative obligations.
  • Provide and maintain a schedule of audits, safety tours, and communication sessions across designated locations.
  • Monitor COSHH assessments within your remit, ensuring that control measures—including environmental, personnel exposure, and biological monitoring—are communicated to the Project Manager.

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Ensure appropriate root cause analyses are completed for all incidents.
  • Provide leadership in unwanted event investigations where required, ensuring all learning is captured and documented.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Altrad reporting systems (AIRs), maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely closure of all actions.

  • Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams positively.
  • Proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Professional, confident, and collaborative approach to working with internal teams and clients.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across locations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an HSEQ role within an operational or project environment.
  • Relevant HSEQ qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate or equivalent).
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and delivering training is desirable.
  • Knowledge of behavioural safety programmes and integrated management systems.
