Site Engineer – Southern Water Framework

The CMDP+ joint venture (comprising MWH Treatment and Costain Group logs for a Site Engineer to join their Southern Water Framework.

CMDP+ delivers a range of construction schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works across the South and Southeast regions.

About the Role

The Joint Venture specialises in executing the 5-year AMP8 capital delivery framework (2025–2030), delivering programmes with a projected budget of up to £1bn across both heavy civil and mechanical/electrical engineering activities.

As part of the site management team, the Site Engineer will collaborate with:

  • Engineers
  • Planners
  • Subcontractors
  • Supervisors
  • Surveyors

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation and enforcement of safe systems of work in compliance with SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) procedures
  • Conducting site inductions
  • Contributing to collaborative site planning and assisting the Site Agent in developing the project look-ahead programme
    • Identifying risks and changes affecting the schedule
  • Promoting SHE initiatives and encouraging the recording of hazards and observations
  • Ensuring timely material requirements alignment with the programme
  • Supporting the Site Agent in resolving blockers/issues, escalating issues outside of personal influence
  • Maintaining 100% compliance with:
    • Framework HASEMP (Health and Safety Executive legal requirements)
    • Framework Management Plan

Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), or degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., civil/structural)
  • Understanding of engineering principles
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
  • Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on a similar water/wastewater major infrastructure project

Qualifications

Essential

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Certificate
  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (with vocational training in engineering)
  • Appointed Person in Lifting is beneficial
