Job Summary

The Site Engineer will have proven experience of dealing with electro-mechanical faults, repairs and preventative maintenance operations within an automated logistics environment. Reporting to the KNAPP UK Regional Operations Manager; the Site Engineer will deliver world class maintenance processes within a highly automated logistics system, providing high standards of equipment reliability and system technical availability.

The Engineer will take a safety-first approach to all tasks and demonstrate a track record of owning problems through to successful completion. Flexibility is the key to success within this small, dynamic, highly efficient and effective engineering team.

Duties and responsibilities

The position requires a wide range of skills including but not limited to the following:

  • Promote a strong safety culture and compliance to current H&S standards
  • 1st level support – error correction within the logistics systems
  • Electrical, Mechanical, pneumatic, fault finding and repairs
  • Planned maintenance of the automated logistic systems
  • Monitoring the technical operation of the logistic systems
  • Inspections and condition monitoring of installed equipment
  • Efficient and effective equipment breakdown recovery
  • Escalation management of equipment/system incidents
  • Demonstrable compliance with Health and Safety regulations and customer standards and regulations
  • Interact with customer management team keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progression and addressing their concerns in a professional manner
  • Interpret electrical circuit diagrams and work with 415V motor controls
  • Manage spare parts including usage, inventory levels, repairs, receipts, replenishments, ordering
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers
  • Appreciation of control systems (WCS, WMS, SCADA)
  • Appreciation of industrial field bus systems (e.g. ASi, Profibus)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
  • Appreciation of Cultural Diversity
  • Budget understanding
  • KPIS

  • Completed an apprenticeship in an Electromechanical discipline to a minimum standard of NVQ level 3
  • Experience of Automated Systems
  • HNC/HND NVQ Level 5 Desirable
  • Understanding of WMS, WCS systems is beneficial
  • Pneumatic and Hydraulic knowledge beneficial –
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills
