Site Engineer

Location: Redcar
Contract

Shift: Day Shift 07:00–19:00
Hours: 42 hours per week – 8.4 hours per day

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all setting out and surveying for the project using a variety of controls such as GPS kits, Total Stations, and Levels.
  • Set up primary survey control for the site.
  • Support the senior project team in the overall implementation of the engineering strategy and framework for the designated project.
  • Assist the Section Engineer / Senior Engineer to manage materials, plant, and labour within the allocated budget and resources, ensuring their safe, effective, and efficient delivery of service on the project.
  • Carry out reconciliations for materials used within the works.
  • Identify best practice, areas for improvement, and areas of concern, including matters relating to safety, finance, or quality.
  • Monitor and assist where required to ensure material movements are recorded appropriately.
  • Ensure calibration records for surveying equipment in use are up to date.

Quality

  • Ensure all systems, design information, procedures, and quality systems are effectively communicated.
  • Ensure that engineering activities, including setting out of the works, are efficiently managed from conception through installation and maintenance, recognising site conditions and constraints while taking account of CDM requirements, statutory regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Using the principles of quality assurance and, where appropriate, technical integrity, ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and that Quality Control mechanisms are in place to provide assurance that the asset and/or service delivers as designed and required.
  • Ensure all quality testing is carried out in accordance with relevant test and inspection plans.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure the company remains at the forefront of the industry, both technically and in its use of the latest technologies and standards.
  • Assist in producing accurate and current procurement schedules and cost information/reports where required.
  • Contribute to the accurate and efficient provision of weekly and monthly progress and productivity reports to senior management, in accordance with company procedures.
  • Seek to understand and implement appropriate digital toolsets to support project execution.
  • Upload setting out data to plant as required.

Personal Qualities & Experience

  • Previous engineering experience and subject matter expertise within an engineering discipline is desirable.
  • Available to work weekends and night shifts as required.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of engineering principles and industry best practice relevant to the discipline.
  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and a professional qualification such as MICE or MIStructE, or an ONC/HNC, is desirable.
  • A valid CSCS card is required.
  • Focused and thorough, with the ability to advise senior management when issues require immediate attention and the drive to ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Previous management experience within construction or relevant support services industries, together with a strong understanding of technical issues, trends, and specialist markets, is desirable.
  • A desire to pursue continuous innovation and development, with a focus on engineering excellence, the customer, and the business.
  • Understanding of BIM and the ability to read and assemble BIM models and produce appropriate reports is desirable.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders.
