Are you an experienced Site Engineer with a background in highways and infrastructure projects, looking to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering major National Highways schemes?
We have an exciting opportunity with our client, a highly respected civil engineering contractor, who is looking to recruit an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of highways projects across the South. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a variety of infrastructure works including carriageway construction, drainage, surfacing, waterproofing, structures and associated highways improvements.
The ideal candidate will have previous setting out experience on highways or infrastructure projects, a strong understanding of quality assurance processes and specifications, and be confident working independently while supporting the successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out setting out using Total Stations, GPS equipment and traditional surveying methods.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and undertake basic material take-offs.
- Raise technical queries with designers and client representatives where required.
- Carry out inspections and testing to ensure works comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate site records and as-built information.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with ITPs, quality assurance procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Assist with programme delivery and coordinate with site teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress on site and identify any engineering or construction issues.
- Support the commercial team by understanding project costs and the value of works delivered.

Required Skills
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum of two years setting out experience on highways or civil engineering projects.
- Previous experience working for a main contractor on infrastructure schemes.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- SSSTS.
- First Aid at Work.
- NRSWA qualification.
- CAT and Genny certification.
- Good understanding of ITPs, quality assurance processes and specification documents.
- Experience using Total Stations, GPS equipment and surveying software.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
- Flexibility to work both day and night shifts as project requirements dictate.
