Are you an experienced Site Engineer with a background in highways and infrastructure projects, looking to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering major National Highways schemes?

We have an exciting opportunity with our client, a highly respected civil engineering contractor, who is looking to recruit an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of highways projects across the South. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a variety of infrastructure works including carriageway construction, drainage, surfacing, waterproofing, structures and associated highways improvements.

The ideal candidate will have previous setting out experience on highways or infrastructure projects, a strong understanding of quality assurance processes and specifications, and be confident working independently while supporting the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out setting out using Total Stations, GPS equipment and traditional surveying methods.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and undertake basic material take-offs.
  • Raise technical queries with designers and client representatives where required.
  • Carry out inspections and testing to ensure works comply with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate site records and as-built information.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with ITPs, quality assurance procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with programme delivery and coordinate with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress on site and identify any engineering or construction issues.
  • Support the commercial team by understanding project costs and the value of works delivered.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
