Site Engineer

Site Engineer

Department: Engineering

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Chester

Description

We’re looking for a highly motivated Site Engineer to join our team, working on major civil engineering schemes. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of your engineering work and develop new skills.

You’ll gain hands-on experience on complex projects, work alongside industry-leading engineers, and have clear development pathways. Expect continuous support, real responsibility, and the chance to help shape civils projects in the UK.

What you will be doing:

  • Setting out and providing precise dimensional control using a full range of surveying equipment (Total Station, GPS, laser levels, etc.).
  • Checking accuracy on site, understanding tolerances, and ensuring construction works meet specification.
  • Identifying additional works, supporting commercial processes, and understanding contract obligations.
  • Interpreting technical drawings, coordinating construction information, and raising RFIs where clarification is needed.
  • Managing and updating drawings, specs, as-built information, and document control systems.
  • Supervising junior engineers, operatives, and subcontractors, ensuring safe and compliant delivery of works.
  • Implementing quality procedures, preparing ITPs, carrying out inspections, and raising NCRs when required.
  • Supporting environmental compliance, understanding site impacts, and applying project environmental plans.
  • Monitoring progress, supporting short-term planning, and preparing material take-offs and productivity reports.
  • Assisting with temporary works: inspections, low-risk design, and preparing design briefs for medium-risk activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
