Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business, combining the engineering expertise of Mott MacDonald with the delivery capability of JN Bentley. Operating across the water, energy and environment sectors throughout the UK, we deliver innovative infrastructure solutions from concept and detailed design through to construction, commissioning and handover.
With an annual turnover exceeding £600 million, we continue to strengthen our position as a leading infrastructure delivery partner. Our sustained growth and robust performance provide an outstanding platform for career development and progression.
As a key delivery partner on United Utilities' AMP8 framework, we will help deliver over £3 billion of major infrastructure investment across the North West of England over the next five years. The programme includes detailed design and build projects valued up to £15 million, allocated based on specialist expertise, availability, best-for-project outcomes and value for money.
This vital investment will deliver upgrades to wastewater treatment works and the UK's largest storm overflow reduction programme, helping to protect more than 500km of rivers and bathing waters while improving environmental resilience across the region.
The Role
Engineering is at the heart of everything we do. As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering detailed design and build projects, working closely with site management, design teams, subcontractors and the wider project team to ensure schemes are constructed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
