Company Description
IBL Cold Stores, a division of International Bulk Liquids (Storage & Transport) Ltd, provides temperature-controlled storage, distribution, and value-added services from its 4-acre site in Knowsley. The facility supports frozen, chilled, and ambient storage in general, bespoke, or exclusive conditions, with a capacity of around 14,000 pallets across 14 chambers. Dedicated blast freeze, tempering, and transport facilities underpin efficient operations, complemented by services such as order-picking and cross-docking. The site is HMRC bonded and all services are BRC accredited, offering applicants a highly regulated and quality-focused working environment. Team members contribute directly to reliable cold chain logistics for a diverse customer base.
Role Description
The Site Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at IBL Cold Stores in the Greater Liverpool Area. This role oversees the technical performance, maintenance, and safety of the facility’s storage chambers, blast freeze units, tempering areas, and associated infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include:

The Site Engineer works closely with operations, quality, and transport teams to ensure compliance with BRC standards, health and safety requirements, and site performance targets. The position also involves:
- Supervising contractors
- Updating technical documentation
- Supporting expansion or modification projects for the site
Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively in an on-site environment and coordinate activities across the facility’s operations.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and external partners.
- Experience in quality control within industrial or logistics environments, ideally aligned with BRC or similar standards.
- Background in structural engineering or related disciplines, with experience in facility infrastructure and asset maintenance.
- Professional experience as a civil engineer or in a comparable engineering role within warehousing, logistics, or industrial settings.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., degree or vocational certification in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering).
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to industrial and bonded facilities.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management systems, technical documentation, and basic IT tools.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
