Site Engineer
About the Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking dedicated and skilled Site Engineer to join our Power T&D Team, based in England (various locations).
Join our Power T&D business as a Site Engineer and benefit from our comprehensive 13-week Upskilling Programme, designed to accelerate your professional growth and equip you with the latest industry competencies. This structured programme blends core and mandatory training, including health and safety, first aid, and digital skills. With advanced modules in:
- Project management
- Technical documentation
- Environmental sustainability
- Commercial awareness
Through immersive learning environments, hands-on technical sessions, and exposure to cutting-edge digital tools, you’ll gain practical expertise in:
- Supervising complex site operations
- Managing resources
- Ensuring compliance with the highest standards of quality and safety
The programme also features:
- Dedicated project shadowing
- A final capability assessment
- Real-world experience in leading teams on live projects
- Key skill development in leadership, planning, incident response, and stakeholder communication
By the end of the 13 weeks, you’ll be fully prepared to take on the challenges of a Site Engineer role, with a clear pathway for ongoing development and advancement in the Power T&D sector.

Working hours: 45 hours per week
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of projects, from:
- Planning and design
- Commissioning
- Handover to close out
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team, you’ll:
- Interpret technical solutions and drawings
- Brief delivery teams clearly
- Ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and right the first time
- Monitor progress
- Maintain accurate project records
- Support reporting and reviews
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to keep delivery on track in line with programme, cost, quality, and safety requirements

Who We’re Looking For
To join us, you’ll need:
- A minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering
- A full, valid UK driving licence
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience working in a construction engineering environment
- Experience implementing safe systems of work and managing risk and change
- A good understanding of:
- Project delivery
- Technical information
- Site-based coordination
- Strong:
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, flexible mindset
- Awareness of commercial and contractual considerations
- Confidence in using Microsoft 365
- Commitment to:

- A formal qualification in construction or engineering or equivalent industry experience
- CSCS and SSSTS certification (or equivalent) or working towards them
Note: The training course starts in September. You must be available to attend all 13 weeks.
