My client is a leading Civils company, and they have a requirement for a Site Engineer on the HS2 project.

This role will support delivery of a BBV-controlled HS2 civils package by ensuring works are accurately set out, compliant with design and quality requirements, and fully recorded within the project’s assurance systems.

The role is site-based and delivery-focused, with responsibility for:

  • Setting out and survey control
  • Quality assurance through ITPs
  • Permit compliance
  • As-built records and documentation

This is a hands-on engineering role within a Tier 1, audit-driven environment, not a purely design or office-based position.

Duties:

  • Carry out accurate setting out of works in accordance with: Approved drawings, IFC information.
  • Ensure: Survey control points are established and maintained, All setting out is checked and verified
  • Work strictly in line with permit and safety requirements before commencing any setting out activities
  • Undertake as-built surveys of completed works
  • Redline drawings
  • Survey records
  • Asset information
  • Quality Record Packs (QRP)
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with: Approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Raising ITPs (where required)
  • Ensuring hold points and witness points are met
  • Recording inspections, tests and results
  • Ensure all quality documentation is: Complete, Accurate, Traceable
  • Support and operate within site permit systems, including: Permit to Break Ground, Temporary Works permits
  • Lift / excavation / confined space (as applicable)
  • Ensure: No work starts without correct permits and approvals, All permit requirements and controls are implemented
  • Assist with: Daily permit checks, Close-out of permits
  • Identify discrepancies between design and site conditions
  • Support raising of: Field Change Requests (FCRs), Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Ensure: No change is implemented without approval, All changes are recorded and reflected in as-built data
  • Digital Systems & Documentation
    • Use BBV systems to record and manage information, including: DALUX / DDD – inspections, NCRs, QA records, Business Collaborator (BC) – document submissions
    • Survey and CAD systems for as-built outputs
    • Ensure: Site records are maintained daily Information is auditable and compliant
  • Work closely with: Site Manager / Supervisors, Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), QA / HSE teams
  • Support: Daily site activities, Method statement implementation, Coordination of works on site

  • Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering or similar
  • CSCS Card – essential
  • Experience as a Site Engineer on civils or infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in Setting out, Surveying, As-built production
  • Experience working under: Principal contractor systems and QA / ITP-driven environments

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience on HS2 or Tier 1 infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of: ITP processes and quality assurance, Permit systems (PTW, PTBG), Utility surveys and site controls
