Lead Civil Engineer – South West (Bath) M Group Highways

You’ll be joining our Civils Projects Team in the South West (Bath), where we deliver specialist civil engineering—collaborative, high-quality work for the public and private sectors.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Managing all engineering activities—engineering control, setting out, and providing direction to the workforce
- Leading quality control systems to ensure compliance with project design and specifications
- Enforcing the highest standards of Health, Safety & Environmental policies, adhering to M Group Highway’s It Starts With Me (ISWM) culture
- Overseeing the permit process, including CAT scanning and issuing permits efficiently
- Maintaining accurate records—site diaries, work progress, resource allocations, and as-built information (using AutoCAD).

- A strong background in civil engineering, including workforce supervision, expertise in:
- Earthworks
- Drainage & structures
- Highways engineering
- The ability to embrace flexibility, lead change, and drive improvements in your role
- Highly organised—able to juggle priorities, multi-task for stakeholders, and stay focused on critical tasks
