Site Engineer – Role Overview
As the Site Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth, compliant, and high-quality execution of projects. Responsibilities include:
- Setting out detailed works according to contract drawings, with regular accuracy checks
- Reviewing plans, drawings, and quantities for precision
- Ensuring quality control aligns with client specifications and is properly documented
- Providing technical support to resolve issues
- Conducting pre-start site surveys
- Handover monitoring – ensuring works and quality records are free from defects, working closely with the Project Manager and installation teams
- Amplifying Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance
- Performing site calibration checks
- Assisting in problem resolution for unexpected technical difficulties

Key Responsibilities
✅ Setting out civil engineering works with meticulous accuracy ✅ Ensuring all project components meet regulatory and contractual standards ✅ Collaborating to maintain timely progress and eliminate post-completion issues ✅ Driving enhanced safety performance at all levels ✅ Troubleshooting to mitigate technical challenges
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess:
Technical & Practical Skills
- Proven setting-out experience on civil engineering projects
- Knowledge of:
- Cofferdams, backfill techniques, clean water pipework installation
- Heavy civil engineering workflows
- Strong understanding of construction methods, safety regulations, and legal compliance
Certifications (Preferred)
- SSSTS (Site Safety Supervisors Scheme)
- CSCS card
- Blue EUSR (Environmental Utility Services Register) card
