Site Engineer (Structures) – Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project
About the Role
A leading UK infrastructure contractor specialising in major national civil and structural projects is seeking a Site Engineer (Structures) to support a key package of complex civils works. This role focuses on structural delivery across multiple workfaces, requiring expertise in accurate setting out, compliance, and programme adherence within a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
- Conduct setting out for structural works, including reinforced concrete (RC) elements, foundations, and associated civils.
- Verify levels, dimensions, and alignment on site to ensure precision.
- Maintain and extend survey control, guaranteeing accuracy across works.
- Record as-built information and support handover documentation for project stakeholders.
- Assist with project inspections, testing, and quality control (e.g., Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)).
- Coordinate daily site activities and report progress to Senior Engineers.
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

Programme & Team Coordination
- Work closely with the Sub Agent and Section Engineer to meet programme targets.
- Monitor progress and escalate issues to relevant senior personnel.
- Support multi-disciplinary teams in maintaining site efficiency and output.
Health, Safety & Quality (HSQE)
- Uphold compliance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work.
- Attend toolbox meetings and safety briefings, promoting safe working practices.
- Report hazards, near misses, and site issues promptly.
- Support quality processes, including project standards, audits, and internal inspections.
Key Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer in structural or civils projects.
- Strong expertise in setting out, surveying, and measurement techniques.
- Experience working on major linear infrastructure projects, such as HS2, highways, or similar large-scale schemes.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and clear communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a site-based engineering team.

Qualifications
- Valid CSCS card (mandatory).
- Relevant construction/engineering qualifications (asset but not always mandatory).
