Site Engineer – Drive a Greener Future with the @One Alliance
Location: @one Sites
Who are we?
We’re the @one Alliance – a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. As we prepare for AMP8, our most ambitious period yet, we’ll be delivering an even broader range of innovative and environmentally-driven infrastructure projects – from urban drainage to nature-based solutions like constructed wetlands.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to take real ownership of engineering works on site, working closely with the site management team to plan and deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Health, safety, and environmental excellence are central to our work, and you’ll play an active role in supporting these standards on site.
You’ll be hands-on with day-to-day quality assurance activities, including surveying, setting out, inspections, and approvals, all aligned with digital design models and modern project systems. You’ll also contribute to the development of Graduate and Apprentice Engineers, helping to build future talent while developing your own leadership and mentoring skills.
What you’ll be doing:
- Day to Day Site Quality Assurance: Including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks, and approvals.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, problem-solve, and deliver innovative solutions to challenges arising during construction projects.
- Assurances: Ensure programme, quality, and budget assurances are supported.
- Design Briefs: Generate temporary works design briefs to a standard accepted by the Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Drawings: Generate, review, and submit red-line drawings for works packages to the design teams.
- Lookahead: Produce a 3-month lookahead for your section of works.
- @one Policies: Implement @one policies, procedures, and statutory legal regulations, paying specific attention to HSE legislation.
- Safety: Collaborate with and lead others to plan your works to minimise health and safety hazards.
- Records: Ensure you and the site team keep accurate and detailed site records for all works.
- Communication: Communicate any change to the site management.
- Liaison: Support the Site Manager to liaise with the Engineering and Integration team to resolve engineering conflicts and ensure work is carried out in line with specifications, digital models, and drawings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
