Site Engineer – Hydro-Electric Power Station (Perthshire)
We’re excited to collaborate with a fast-growing civil engineering and construction company seeking a Site Engineer for their hydro-electric power station project in Perthshire.
This contract role will run for 3–4 months, starting mid-July, and SSE experience is strongly preferred.
About the Role
You’ll play a pivotal part in upholding high engineering standards on-site, driving efficient project delivery, and ensuring rigorous technical and quality control across all construction phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate site setting-out using surveying equipment (e.g., Total Stations, GPS) to meet design specifications and tolerances.
- Interpret and review construction drawings, ensuring alignment with project requirements while raising any technical queries when needed.
- Support the implementation and completion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), verifying compliance with standards and maintaining thorough documentation.
- Prepare precise material take-offs to optimise procurement planning and site resource management.
- Produce clear as-built surveys and maintain high-quality site records for quality assurance and project handover.
- Liaise with designers, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve on-site issues and streamline workflow.
- Promote safe working practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and company procedures.

Requirements
- Proven SSE experience in a similar environment.
- Deep understanding of civil engineering and construction methods.
- Proficiency in setting-out equipment such as Total Stations and GPS.
- Experience in a quality-controlled construction setting.
- Valid CSCS card is mandatory.
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND or Degree) is desirable but not essential.
