About the Role
You’ll collaborate with business leaders, employees, and external stakeholders, creating and enforcing effective EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) practices that:
- Enhance well-being
- Ensure environmental sustainability
- Foster workplace safety
As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for HSE on-site, you’ll align the site’s ambient with group sustainability and HSE strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- On-site leadership of the H&SE function: Ensure compliance of environmental, health, and safety management systems for 250+ staff.
- Strategy and plan deployment: Oversee development and execution of the site’s EHS deployment plan to meet Group Sustainability and HSE Strategy.
- Culture building:
- Coach and mentor teams on HSE initiatives.
- Lead the BBB (Behaviour-Based Safety Programme).
- Environmental systems:
- Develop a site Environmental Management System.
- Risk management: Bolster an effective EH&S risk management framework to drive compliance.
- Incident & investigation management:
- Direct investigations into accidents, crises, and environmental incidents to establish and maintain corrective actions.
- KPI analysis: Monitor and interpret EHS lagging and leading indicators to guide improvements.
- Operational collaboration:
- Guide management teams in crafting annual safety plans, zero-harm solutions, and shape sustainable SHE operational strategies.
- Champion continuous improvement through positive leadership behaviours.

Experience and Qualifications
Essential Skills & Background
- Experience in safety leadership, preferably within:
- Logistics
- Supply chain
- General manufacturing (e.g., FMCG, food & drink, pharma, packaging, process industries)
- Change leadership capacity: Proven ability to role-model safety leadership, cultivate coaching and development to embed an “Excelling” H&S cultural mindset.
- Empowerment required: Engage entire workforce (levels from warehouse floor to Senior Leadership Team).
- Visible presence: Approachable and highly accessible to staff.
- Certifications: NEBOSH Certification/Diploma preferred; IOSH Graduate Membership ideal.
- Program management: Proven track record delivering effective HSE safety program frameworks.
- Commitment to SHE excellence in manufacturing/factory/warehousing environments strongly preferred.
- Manufacturing/warehouse/factory experience: A must.
