Site Manager – Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)
Location: @one Alliance Sites across the Anglian Water Region
Balfour Beatty play a key role as part of the {(6) Anglian Water's @one Alliance: Overview | LinkedIn} @Anglian Water’s one Alliance. The Alliance is a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and eight industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. And together, we deliver around 40% of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
As we progress through AMP8 – our most ambitious asset management period to date – we’re delivering nature-based and sustainable infrastructure, from wetlands to urban drainage schemes, setting new benchmarks for environmental performance.
We are now looking for a Site Manager to join our delivery team – someone with a proactive mindset and a passion for quality and safety in construction delivery.
What you'll be doing
As a Site Manager, you'll lead site-based delivery activities on complex infrastructure projects, ensuring construction works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards of quality.
Working closely with the Construction Manager and wider Project Delivery Team, you'll coordinate subcontractors, manage site resources and oversee day-to-day operations to ensure successful project delivery and safe asset handover.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate site activities in line with the construction programme, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to schedule.
- Lead by example in promoting a strong Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality culture across site operations.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, site resources, materials and plant utilisation.
- Support project handover and ensure all works are delivered to a Safe to Operate (STO) standard at DM4.
- Maintain compliance with assurance requirements including CSIR, CEIR and CQIR processes.
- Monitor site budgets alongside the Cost Manager, approving site expenditure, timesheets and GRNs in line with governance procedures.
- Review and approve subcontractor RAMS and manage site requisitions effectively.
- Take ownership of construction rework activities, ensuring timely resolution and assurance sign-off.
- Support programme, cost, quality and risk reporting across the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to change management processes and accurate cost control through CCMS.
- Liaise closely with Anglian Water operational teams to support seamless asset transition and operational readiness.
- Lead, coach and motivate site teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Who we're looking for
We’re looking for an experienced and confident Site Manager with strong leadership skills and a solid background in infrastructure delivery, in the water or utilities sector.
You Will Bring
- Demonstrable experience managing large-scale construction projects with a value of £20 million or more, preferably within the infrastructure or regulated utility sectors.
- A proven track record of successfully delivering complex site operations in line with time, cost and quality targets.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality standards in a live site environment.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners to meet programme objectives.
- Commercial awareness and confidence in managing site budgets, cost reporting, and procurement systems.
- Familiarity with project assurance and governance processes, including change control and risk mitigation.
- The ability to lead, engage, and develop site teams, while maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships.
A construction-related qualification is desirable. Experience working within alliance or collaborative delivery models, along with knowledge of CCMS and digital site management tools, will be advantageous.
