Site Manager – HV Substation- Data Centre
Location: London
Data Centre - Build
Contract: Freelance - ASAP start - Minimum 6 months
We’re supporting on a client's data centre substation build; they’re looking to bring in an experienced Site Manager to work alongside a senior construction lead delivering the works.
This is a key position on a high-profile hyperscale data centre project, overseeing the delivery of critical grid connection infrastructure and HV substation works.
Scope of Works
- Full delivery of HV substation works supporting a major data centre build
- Integration of grid connection infrastructure (DNO / National Grid interface)
- Coordination of civil, electrical and mechanical packages through construction to energisation
- Supporting a fast-paced, programme-driven data centre environment

Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site activities on new substation build
- Oversee subcontractors across civils, electrical and HV installation works
- Drive programme, quality and HSE performance on site
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, RAMS and permit systems
- Coordinate works through to commissioning and energisation
- Interface with project team, client reps and DNO/National Grid stakeholders
- Lead site meetings, reporting and progress tracking
- Maintain high standards in a live, high-value data centre environment
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Site Manager / Senior Site Manager on HV substation projects
- Strong background delivering: 132kV / 275kV / 400kV infrastructure
- Grid connection / utility projects
- Previous work with National Grid or DNOs essential
- Experience on data centre or BESS projects highly desirable
- Confident managing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors
- Experience supporting energisation and commissioning phases

Certifications
- SMSTS
- Strong CDM knowledge
- National Grid authorisations (e.g. SR163, NSI06/08) highly desirable
- HV permits / AP tickets advantageous
