Site Manager
Location: Basingstoke / Southern Region Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager to join our Freedom business, part of the NG Bailey Group.
As part of our Power team, you’ll oversee and manage underground cable installation and replacement works across the Southern Region, supporting major clients including SSE and UK Power Networks (UKPN). This is a chance to lead critical infrastructure projects that power homes and businesses, working with expert engineers and project professionals who prioritise doing things the right way.
This full-time permanent role reports to the Project Manager and involves travel across multiple sites, ensuring work delivers on safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
Key Deliverables
The role will focus on the following responsibilities:
- Supervising and coordinating all civil works related to underground cable installation and replacement projects.
- Surveying work sites before, during, and after construction—including drafting reports and re-measures for the Project Manager.
- Planning, resourcing, and organising teams while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
- Proactively managing Health & Safety, upholding our culture of "Safety First and Foremost" across all sites.
- Supporting the Project Manager in developing programmes, managing variations, and resolving on-site issues effectively.
- Motivating and mentoring field teams to deliver high-quality, consistent results.
- Compiling essential site documentation, including job packs, permits, and records.

Person Specification
We’re seeking a proactive, hands-on leader who excels in field-based environments and combines strong technical and people management skills. Ideal candidates will have:
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CDM-compliant electrical/civils Site Manager*
- Extensive experience managing teams and site activities on high voltage cable or substation civil works
- Working safely under CDM Regulations
- Hold current NRSWA accreditation (essential)
- Strong planning and organisation skills for managing multiple workstreams across varied sites
- Clear communication skills to build positive relationships with clients, customers, and colleagues
Nice-to-Have Qualifications & Skills
- IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or SSSTS certification
- Training in First Aid, Manual Handling, or CDM Awareness
- Confidence using IT systems to produce reports and manage site documentation
*(CDM = Construction (Design and Management) Regulations)
