Site Manager

Site Manager (Permanent, Full-time) – Basingstoke/Southern Region

Location

  • Basingstoke, Southern Region
  • Securing responsibilities across the Southern Region, with travel to multiple sites.

Summary

Join our Freedom business as part of the NG Bailey Group, leading energy infrastructure projects as a Site Manager for our Power team.

You’ll oversee underground cable installation and replacement works, supporting major clients like SSE and UK Power Networks (UKPN). This role ensures critical projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard, working alongside skilled teams who prioritise quality and rigour.

Reporting to the Project Manager, your work involves:

  • Managing worksite logistics and team coordination
  • Ensuring timelines, budget, and quality targets are met

Key Deliverables

  • Technical Leadership:

    • Supervise and coordinate underground cable and civil works (installation/replacements).
    • Compile pre-, mid-, and post-construction site surveys, preparing re-measure reports for the Project Manager.
  • Team & Resource Management:

    • Plan, resource, and assign teams to ensure workload demands are fulfilled.
    • Validate compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Health & Safety Responsibilities:

    • Proactively drive "Safety First and Foremost"—adhere to CDM Regulations and enforce rigorous safety culture.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Support the Project Manager with programming, variation management, and issue resolution.
    • Build trust & transparency with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
  • Documentation & Compliance:

    • Compile job packs, permits, and site documentation to industry standards.

Requirements

We’re seeking a CDM expert with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-based environment. Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • CDM-Coordinator or Project-Manager experience in electrical and civil Site Management, focusing on underground cables/substation civil works (mandatory).
  • NRSWA (New Road & Street Works) accreditation (mandatory).
  • Proven ability to **manage Health & Safety hands-on, with a track record of zero incidents.
  • Adaptability in multi-site assignments, balancing logistics, deadlines, and stakeholder needs.

Desirable (but not mandatory):

  • Certifications: IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or SSSTS ( Construction/Health & Safety).
  • Technical training: First Aid, Manual Handling, or CDM Awareness qualifications.
  • Proficient in IT documentation tools—records systems, report software, and project management platforms (e.g., Power BI, Notion).

Competencies

  • Proven ability to inspire teams, delivering excellent performance under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and liability for cost/schedule adherence.
  • Adept grasp of effective communication, whether face-to-face or at board level.
  • Comfortable navigating Regulatory (e.g., HSWT 2016) and site-specific compliance protocols.
