Contract Type: Contract – Full-Time Hours Monday to Friday

About The Role

A quality focused housing developer seeks a freelance Site Manager to oversee a new build housing development in Leicestershire for a two-week period. The successful candidate is responsible for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring that all activities run smoothly, safely, and within programme. This role requires a proactive approach to managing personnel, resources, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality homes on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise all site activities to ensure efficient progress and adherence to the programme.
  • Manage and monitor subcontractors and suppliers to maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure all site operations comply with health and safety legislation and company policies, promoting a safe working environment at all times.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to maintain build standards and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Maintain clear and accurate daily records of site activities, progress reports, and any incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Oversee the management of materials and equipment, ensuring availability and correct use to support site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental controls and waste management procedures on site.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of method statements, risk assessments, and site documentation as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • Valid First Aid qualification.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

Education and Experience

  • Proven experience managing traditional new build housing projects on site.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of construction processes, materials, and best practices within the housebuilding sector.
  • Experience working to construction programmes and managing subcontractors effectively.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong leadership and site management skills with the ability to motivate and coordinate teams.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to construction sites.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and site plans.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate site records and reports.

Working Conditions

  • This role requires full-time hours on site, typically Monday to Friday, with possible requirements for early starts or extended hours to meet project deadlines.
  • The site is located in Rearsby, Leicestershire, and candidates should be able to travel to this location reliably.
  • Work takes place outdoors in all weather conditions and involves regular walking, standing, and site inspections.
