Site Manager - Food Manufacturing Facility Projects

Site-based construction and installation works within a live food manufacturing environment

Role Overview

We are currently looking to speak with experienced Site Managers for an upcoming project at a food manufacturing facility in Barnsley. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, coordinating contractors, maintaining health and safety standards and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme within a live operational environment. This role would suit a Site Manager with proven experience working on food, FMCG, manufacturing, process, industrial or clean environment construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily site operations and contractor activity on a live manufacturing facility
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, on time and in line with project requirements
  • Review and manage RAMS, permits to work, inductions and site documentation
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers and client-side stakeholders
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and site discipline
  • Ensure works are planned around live production and operational constraints
  • Attend site meetings and provide regular progress updates
  • Monitor quality of works and ensure compliance with agreed specifications
  • Manage site logistics, access, deliveries and any interface with production teams
  • Support project delivery teams with planning, sequencing and issue resolution

Essential Requirements

  • SMSTS certification
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on construction or engineering projects
  • Previous experience working within a food manufacturing facility
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, RAMS, permits and contractor control
  • Experience working on live operational sites
  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and work packages
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environment

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with hygiene-sensitive or clean environment construction works
  • Background in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, FMCG or process manufacturing
  • First Aid at Work
  • Experience managing shutdowns, upgrades, refurbishments or installation projects
