Site Manager (Groundworks)

Groundworks Site Manager – Residential Development (Colchester)

£300 per day

About the Role

Gap Construction (operating as an employment agency on behalf of a growing contractor) are recruiting for an experienced Groundworks Site Manager to lead a residential development in Colchester—consisting of 17 new build homes.

Currently at foundation and enabling works stage, this key groundworks role will ensure smooth delivery of early construction phases, including:

  • Foundations
  • Infra-structural works (drainage, roads, etc.)
  • Enabling services for subsequent structure progression

With additional developments planned across Essex, this presents a long-term contract opportunity for a self-directed professional with a strong groundworks focus.

Performance Objectives

Oversee strategic and operational tasks to maintain project momentum, quality, and safety:

  • Manage day-to-day groundworks and infrastructure phases for residential build
  • Coordinate (subcontractors, operatives, plant, material deliveries)
  • Monitor progress against programme and deliver clear updates to senior management
  • Uphold health & safety standards in line with legislation
  • Maintain quality control—ensuring adherence to project specifications
  • Maintain site documentation (inspections, records, approvals)
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, consultants and internal teams
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively to prevent delays and meet deadlines

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
