About the Role

Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

This role will be within our Transmission Overhead Lines team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

This role is working on our SSE & SPEN contracts in Scotland - willingness to travel and stay away are essential!

What will you be doing?

As a Site Manager, your key responsibility will be the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of Transmission projects on site. You’ll lead the day-to-day coordination of site teams, subcontractors, plant, materials, equipment and support services to ensure works are delivered to programme, specification, budget and client requirements. You’ll take ownership of site-level Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, working closely with the Project Manager, project teams, clients and internal departments to resolve issues, maintain progress and drive strong operational performance without compromising safety or quality.

  • Lead day-to-day Health, Safety, Environment and Quality matters for site teams and subcontractors under their control.
  • Report SHEQ events promptly and support investigations in line with internal and client procedures.
  • Develop, review and maintain project documentation, including Construction Phase Plans, Quality Plans, Emergency Plans, RAMS and work instructions.
  • Provide technical support and practical delivery input to bids, tenders, design reviews and construction planning.
  • Liaise with Design, Engineering, Procurement, Wayleaves, clients and stakeholders to resolve technical and site delivery issues.
  • Produce and manage material requirements, schedules and site information to support planned works.
  • Manage supervisory resources, including Engineers, General Foremen and other site-based personnel, ensuring duties are clearly briefed and understood.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and support services to deliver works safely, efficiently and compliantly.
  • Monitor progress against programme and report progress, productivity, risks and constraints to the Project Manager and Project Planner.
  • Ensure subcontractors are suitably supervised and working in line with RAMS, permits, drawings, specifications and client requirements.
  • Coordinate access, logistics, temporary works, permits, certificates and site arrangements to maintain safe and efficient progress.
  • Chair regular site meetings with staff, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders to review safety, progress, quality and delivery priorities.
  • Escalate unresolved operational, safety, quality, resource or stakeholder issues to the Project Manager or appropriate support function.
  • Manage and support reporting staff, including day-to-day supervision, welfare matters, timesheets, expenses and performance-related issues, with Human Resources support where required.
  • Promote company values, expected behaviours and a culture of safety, integrity, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication across site teams, project teams, support functions and the wider business.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures and management systems, including health and safety, quality and environmental requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
