Site Manager

Location: Southern Water Framework – Chichester, West Sussex

Within our Environment Business Division (Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering), we are seeking a Site Manager to support the delivery of water and wastewater projects across the Southern Water Framework.

In this role, you will contribute to the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, helping achieve strong outcomes across programme, cost, safety, and quality.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading day-to-day site management, including developing, monitoring, and delivering the programme
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental (HS&E), and quality standards in line with company procedures
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date site diaries and project records
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and subcontractors
  • Producing weekly and monthly progress reports
  • Managing sections of work, including supervising and supporting the site team and supply chain
  • Reporting progress and performance to the Project Manager
  • Ensuring:
    • Risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work systems, site inductions, and safety briefings are completed
    • Daily, weekly, and monthly inspections in line with Business Management System (BMS) requirements
    • Quality assurance (QA) processes and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) are developed, maintained, and followed

About You

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working at Site Manager level (typically 5+ years or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant industry qualifications (HNC/HND or higher, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of engineering and construction principles and practices
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes or similar sectors
  • Experience applying CDM health and safety responsibilities, including managing design and technical risk
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • CSCS
    • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
    • First Aid
    • IOSH Environmental (or equivalent)
  • Confidence using IT systems, including MS Excel and document management tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Experience supporting, coordinating, or leading teams
