Role Outline
The Site Manager will take ownership of one of our key operational sites and lead a talented team of mechanical fitters and supervisors. Performing the ‘controller of premises’ role, you will ensure all safety and compliance obligations are met, as well as being a team leader and line manager for a team of eight. Health and safety, quality control, and providing support, growth, and development opportunities for the team, will be key areas of focus. You will also be the key point of contact on site for clients and play a role in resource planning and scheduling.

Responsibilities
- Key point of contact for the GEL Engineering designated area of the client site.
- Line management for a team of eight, including personal development, growth & support as well as management of HR issues, timesheet reviews, etc.
- Ensure compliance with GEL and client processes and procedures plus health and safety regulations.
- Ensure permits and authorisations are kept in date and sought in a timely manner (e.g. TOCOP – Transfer of Controller of Premises documents).
- Be responsible for leading and coordinating on-site engineering tasks to deliver projects safely, on time, and to specification.
- Manage day-to-day site activities, ensuring smooth operation and progress of works.
- Lead and supervise site teams, including GEL fitters, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate logistics, material deliveries, site access, and permits, etc.
- Supervise and manage site activities, providing instruction, direction, and support to mechanical fitters, supervisors, and sub-contractors.
- Assist Project Manager with all relevant tasks including project documentation, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS), construction phase plans, project programs, etc.

Requirements
- Proven experience in a Site Manager, Team Leader, or Supervisory role within an engineering or construction environment.
- Ability to manage and motivate site teams.
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS card, First Aid).
- Water, utilities, or mechanical engineering projects experience preferred.
- UK Driving Licence.
- Right to Work in the UK on permanent basis.
