We are currently looking for a Site Mechanical Engineer to join the Grid & Digital Solutions department, as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen, for the EGL1 Project, based in Torness.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinating with Project Managers, contractors, and subcontractors to support the planning and execution of mechanical installations.
  • Performing regular inspections and quality checks to ensure works are carried out in line with project and industry standards.
  • Identifying and supporting the resolution of mechanical issues arising during construction.
  • Collaborating with the design team during the pre-construction phase, providing input on mechanical systems where required.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of mechanical works performed on site.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a strong safety culture across site activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical erection works or maintenance, preferably within heavy industrial environments such as power plants, refineries, CCGT, HVAC, or broader energy projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and civil construction drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural project teams.
