Customer Service Team Member (Recycling Site Attendant) – Permanent

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full time Location: Newport, Gwent Hours per week: 40 Salary: £26,736.32 per annum / £12.81 per hour

About The Role

  • Location: Newport Gwent
  • Salary: £26,736.32 per annum (~£12.81/hour)
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week (Friday–Tuesday, 07.45–16.15)
  • Working pattern: Fridays, Mondays, Tuesdays (Wednesdays, Thursdays = rest days)
  • Training: Full mobile plant training provided

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering excellent customer service by advising and assisting members of the public on using the site to maximise material recovery.
  • Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
  • Controlling container exchanges, including:
    • Booking loads with the relevant team to ensure proper segregation and storage.
    • Ensuring the site remains organised and operational.
  • Keeping the site tidy within your allotted areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal health, safety, and welfare duties.
  • Cooperating with SUEZ and colleagues to:
    • Follow site permits and applicable legislation.
    • Adhere to SUEZ policies and procedures.
    • Complete any other reasonable duties within the job role.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong customer service skills and a willingness to collaborate in a team.
  • Flexibility, including covering holidays and sick days as needed.

Desirable Experience:

  • Prior experience operating mobile plant (though full training will be provided).

Opportunities for Progression:

  • Potential to gain qualifications including:
    • IOSH Managing Safely (health & safety).
    • COTC Level 4 (waste industry-specific).
