Summary of Vacancy
About The Role
We are looking for a Site Operative for a minimum of 100 hours a month (23 hours per week on average) within the Northumberland PFI Operations team.
Based out of Alnwick Transfer Station and HWRC NE66 2HT
£12.81 per hour
Your main duties will be to cover holidays, sickness and training days at Alnwick, but may be required to travel elsewhere in the Region and as such own transport is essential.
£180 pro-rated bonus achievable when objectives are achieved per month
Opportunity to learn shovel operator and weighbridge duties.
What Will I be Doing?
- Advising and assisting the public on how to use the site in order to maximise recovery of material deposited in the sites.
- Maintaining accurate records for the removal of material from the site and of all activities on the site.
- Controlling the exchange of containers, by booking loads with the relevant person thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
- Maintaining a tidy site.
- Ensuring that within his/her areas of responsibility, SUEZ R & R complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.
- Co-operating with SUEZ R & R and with other employees in order to comply with site permit, all applicable legislation and SUEZ R & R Policies and Procedures.
- Undertaking first aider duties and fire warden duties on site.
- Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.

FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED
It is an ideal opportunity to learn about the recovery and recycling of household waste. This role is primarily to provide cover for holidays/training days and emergency across the sites and as such having a driving licence and your own transport is essential. SUEZ R & R UK is committed to the training and progression of its employees and can offer you the opportunity for future advancement and development within our company.
What are the Requirements?
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a full working understanding of the site licence/permit and who will work to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.
- A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days.
- The successful applicant will be required to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, operation and maintenance of site equipment.
- Having basic administration skills for the recording of data on SUEZ R & R UK’s reporting systems will also be advantageous.
- Must be able to drive and have own transport.
