Role Overview

You’ll join GitLab’s Dedicated team as a Site Reliability Engineer focused on Environment Automation, enhancing efficiency for hundreds of isolated GitLab customer environments. Your work ensures these environments are reliable, scalable, secure, and consistent by applying everything-as-code principles across their lifecycle, from initial provisioning to daily operations.

Unlike working on a single platform, your collaboration with senior SREs addresses the complex challenges of multitenancy, where each isolated environment must meet distinct constraints and integration points.

Key Contributions

  • Automate and orchestrate GitLab environments using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Reduce manual overhead and ensure seamless coordination for multi-tenant environments both at scale and securely.
  • Maintain observability through stack enhancements, ensuring performance, security, and stability for all environments.
  • Work directly with teams developing scalable, customer-facing product offerings like GitLab Dedicated.

What You’ll Do

Automate & Manage Multi-Tenant Environments

  • Automate operational tasks across provisioning, configuration updates, upgrades, and routine maintenance, ensuring reliability at scale under senior guidance.

Develop Observability for GitLab Environments

  • Refine observability tools for Kubernetes, cloud services, and GitLab applications, focusing on early issue detection, consistent monitoring, and capacity planning.

Troubleshoot & Optimize Systems

  • Diagnose and resolve production incidents, upgrades, and upgrades-related errors across Kubernetes, cloud services, and GitLab systems.
  • Document findings and contribute tools that prevent future issues.

Plan & Support Infrastructure Growth

  • Assist in seismic changes, including infrastructure capacity expansions and new service rollouts to improve efficiency and isolation across environments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
