About the Role

Barclays is collaborating with Hackajob to identify exceptional Site Reliability Engineers for a strategic role. This is an opportunity to design, develop, and optimise software—leveraging cloud platforms, observability, and automation—to enhance Barclays’ business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

Your mission will be to drive reliability, scalability, and operational excellence in Barclays’ distributed systems while collaborating extensively across teams.

    • Optimise performance, reduce toil, and enhance system reliability.
  • Incident Response & Reliability Engineering:
    • Implement SLOs, error budgets, and incident response mechanisms for high-availability systems.
    • Lead post-mortems, continuous reliability improvements, and chaos/performance testing.
  • Infrastructure & Automation:
    • Design infrastructure as code (Terrform, CloudFormation) for self-service platforms, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Manage cost optimisation, capacity planning, and distributed system performance.
  • Observability & Security:

    • Enforce encryption, secrets management, and authentication/authorisation standards (OAuth, SAML, API Key Mgmt).
  • Testing & Novel Technologies:
    • Apply modern testing methodologies (chaos engineering, performance testing).
    • Explore Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic frameworks for operational advancements.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration:
    • Mentor junior SREs, foster knowledge sharing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Represent subject matter expertise in reliability best practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
