Site Reliability Engineer – FinTech Infrastructure

Up to £110K + Shares + Benefits | Remote First (UK/Europe)

Plan A Digital are recruiting for an innovative FinTech company transforming connectivity and infrastructure for financial markets. We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a collaborative SRE team and help automate, maintain and scale the infrastructure that powers mission-critical trading connectivity services used by leading financial institutions.

The Role

  • Automate server and network provisioning across physical infrastructure and cloud environments (AWS/GCP)
  • Enhance and evolve CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and software deployments
  • Support the delivery of highly available, scalable and reliable production systems
  • Work closely with hardware vendors, telecom providers and financial institutions
  • Contribute to a culture of automation, continuous improvement and shared ownership across the technology estate
  • Participate in infrastructure projects spanning data centres, networking, cloud platforms and end-user systems

Essentials

  • Ability to code and build software solutions using a language such as Python, Go, Java or similar
  • Strong experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible
  • Background in Systems Administration, Network Engineering, or a blend of both disciplines
  • Server provisioning (cloud and bare metal)
  • Linux kernel configuration
  • Bash scripting / automation
  • Good understanding of Linux systems, server provisioning and infrastructure management
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, TCP/IP and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and technology suppliers
  • Comfortable taking ownership, working autonomously and solving complex infrastructure challenges
  • Passion for continuous learning and improving operational efficiency through automation

Desirable

  • Authentication and identity technologies including SAML, OAuth2, Kerberos and Active Directory
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
  • Database high availability technologies including PostgreSQL clustering and replication
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments spanning physical infrastructure and cloud services
  • Exposure to financial services, low-latency environments or trading infrastructure
