Site Reliability Technical Lead – Remote
Location: Remote Salary: £80,000 - £90,000

About the Role
We’re seeking a collaborative and experienced Site Reliability Technical Lead to lead system and solution design for our core products. This is a broad yet rewarding role demanding deep technical expertise, leadership, and an ability to mentor engineers while embedding reliability and quality.
Responsibilities span architectural leadership, reliability, automation, and cross-team collaboration, making robust, scalable systems that deliver measurable impact.
Core Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership
- Balance trade-offs between speed, scalability, maintainability, and security to align with business objectives
- Reliability & Performance
- Lead erve Level Objective (SLO)-driven design, ensure systems are observable, and drive continuous improvement in reliability, efficiency, and performance
- Incident Management
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) during issues and optimize incident response frameworks
- Automation
- Champion automation across the team to reduce operational toil
- Technical Standards
- Enforce coding standards, promote automated testing, and advocate best practices in architecture and production readiness
- Planning & Delivery
- Guide real-world technical estimations and release planning, supporting post-launch reviews to inform improvements
- Mentorship
- Coach and develop engineers via constructive feedback, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving
- Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leaders, and cross-functional teams, translating complex technical ideas for non-technical stakeholders

Requirements
About You

Years of Experience: Senior-level expertise in Site Reliability (SRE), DevOps, or Platform Engineering for complex, production-grade systems

Cloud Expertise: AWS and distributed cloud architectures; experience scaling platforms handling 1,000+ requests/second

Tools & Technologies:
- Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- Python, Go, or similar languages for automation/tooling
- Monitoring (Datadog/Prometheus), observability, incident management tools
- Distributed systems, microservices, and resilience patterns
- Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization/tools
- Portable CI/CD pipelines

- Strong mentor capable of inspiring teams and driving engineering standards
- Shift from operations to design, improving efficiency at scale
Bonus Strengths
- Chaos engineering & reliability testing
- Security best practices and compliance knowledge
- Scrum/Kanban-based agile experience
